Greenville has officially become a must-stop destination for Broadway lovers, and this fall, the city is set to host one of the most talked-about and innovative shows in recent memory. From September 29 to October 4, 2026, the Peace Center Concert Hall will transform into a near-future world for the production of Maybe Happy Ending.

This isn't just any musical; it’s the winner of 6 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, and it’s finally making its way to the Upstate. Whether you’re a die-hard theater fan or just looking for a unique and moving date night, this sci-fi romance is the event of the season. At Sleep Inn® at Greenville Convention Center, we are already preparing to welcome guests traveling from across South Carolina and beyond for this incredible run.

What is Maybe Happy Ending?

Imagine a world not too far in the future where helper robots, or "Oliver" and "Claire," have become obsolete. They live in a retirement complex for androids, tucked away from the bustling streets of Seoul. Oliver is a "Helperbot 5" who loves jazz and is waiting for his former owner to come back for him. Claire is a "Helperbot 6" who is sharp, cynical, and far more realistic about her fate.

When a chance encounter brings them together, they embark on an unexpected journey that explores what it truly means to be human, and whether love is worth the eventual heartbreak of obsolescence. Helmed by Tony Award®-winning director Michael Arden (known for his stunning work on Parade), Maybe Happy Ending is a deeply human story that uses a futuristic lens to examine timeless emotions. Critics have hailed it as "the best musical in eons," and its arrival in Greenville is a major win for our local arts scene.

The Peace Center Experience

Located in the heart of downtown, the Peace Center is the crown jewel of Greenville’s cultural landscape. For the run of Maybe Happy Ending, the Concert Hall offers the perfect acoustic and visual environment to experience the show's intricate score and stunning, neon-infused stage design.
