If you’ve ever felt that post-show "high", that buzzing energy you get after witnessing a powerful performance, you know the only thing that makes it better is having a soft, quiet place to land afterward. This summer, Greenville is transforming into a theater-lover's paradise for the South Carolina New Play Festival (July 29 - August 9, 2026). From world-class Broadway headliners to immersive outdoor fairs, our city is going to be alive with creativity.
At the Sleep Inn at Greenville Convention Center, we are ready to be your backstage pass to relaxation. Whether you're here to spot the next big star or just soak in the culture, we’ve got your rest covered.
The Magic of the Spiegeltent at New Realm Brewing
The centerpiece of this year's festival is nothing short of legendary. Imagine stepping out of the modern Greenville streets and into the 19th-century European charm of the Cristal Palace Spiegeltent. This "Mirror Tent," made of wood, canvas, and mirrors, will be set up at New Realm Brewing, offering a unique, intimate venue for the festival's biggest ticketed events.
It’s fully air-conditioned (a must for our South Carolina summers!) and provides a circular stage experience that makes every seat feel like the front row. It’s where history meets the cutting edge of new theater, and it’s just a quick ride away from our front doors.
Broadway Royalty in Greenville: Drew Gehling & Christina Gelsone
The star power this year is incredible. If you’re a fan of Waitress or Jersey Boys, you won’t want to miss the Broadway Cabaret starring Drew Gehling on Sunday, August 9. He’s fresh off the Broadway stage, and seeing him perform in the Spiegeltent is going to be one of those "I was there" moments.

For those who love the energy of the streets, Christina Gelsone, an internationally renowned performer, is hosting the SPINX Market Live Arts Fair. Christina brings a mix of clowning, physical comedy, and pure joy to the festival, ensuring the energy never flags.
Local History Takes Center Stage: "The House That I Live In"
One of the most anticipated productions is the world premiere of "The House That I Live In: Josh White's America." This musical explores the life of the legendary Josh White, a Greenville native who became a global folk and blues superstar and a pivotal figure in the civil rights movement. Seeing this story told right here in his hometown is going to be a powerful experience for locals and visitors alike.
The Main Street Shutdown: August 8
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 8. The city is shutting down Main Street and Falls Park Drive for the SPINX Market Live Arts Fair. From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the heart of Greenville becomes a massive stage. Expect free outdoor performances, local arts organizations, and surprises around every corner. It’s the perfect event for families and anyone looking to experience the best hotels in Greenville SC have to offer, easy access to the city’s vibrant culture.

Could You Be the Next Star?
The festival also looks to the future with the South Carolina’s Next Broadway Star contest. Witness the incredible talent coming out of the Palmetto State as they compete for the title. It’s inspiring, it’s high-energy, and it’s a reminder of why we love the arts so much.
